Tell us a little about your writing career.

By day, I am a professional writer and editor at Metonymy Media. We're a bunch of poets and fiction writers turned content creators, and we spend pretty much all day writing about pretty much everything. By night, I'm the Publishing Director of liloQui digital publishing, a local startup focused on providing independent authors a new way to publish their work and connect with their audience. I've been writing fiction (and some poetry, but not very much) for many years now, and I'm always up for a new challenge.

Who are your literary influences?

I really like writers like Dave Eggers, Jonathan Lethem, and Aimee Bender who have no problem blending the real with the surreal. I love it when lines are blurred, illusions are made concrete, and readers are left wondering where they fit into what they just read. Also, Ernest Hemingway is the one true master.

What do you hope to gain from our monthly workshop?

I'm really, really excited to be a part of the Indy WordLab. As a professional writer and editor, I spend a ton of time working with words every day. Those words often belong to other people, so there is a level of disconnect with even the most engaging of professional projects. I'm looking forward to an opportunity to get together with other writers and focus on writing for fun, on art for the sake of art, and on the challenge of the strange and the unfamiliar. I'm anxious to get back into creative writing and make some words my own for a change.

Hi, everybody! I'm a professional writer and editor, and I'm one of the organizers of the Indy WordLab. I'm super excited to meet you all and see what kinds of crazy things we can create together at the Earth House!
