Innovation Exchange - Connecting Social Innovators Meetup
Details
Innovation Exchange gathers people interested in helping solve social problems to socialize, connect, network, share, learn, collaborate, and build community.
For June's IX, join us to hear Calgary Chief of Police Rick Hanson speak about the police department's innovative work on crime prevention. By focusing on youth and even child development the city's police service is working to create safe communities in the coming years by supporting youth today. Among the valuable initiatives the police are undertaking to support Calgary's children is the opening of a Child Advocacy Centre in the fall.
Of their work, Calgary Police Services' Youth Intervention Programs (http://www.calgarypolice.ca/kids-youthintervention.html) website says: Calgary's children and youth are of great importance to the Calgary Police Service. Crime and violence involving children and youth is a serious concern for families, communities, schools, governments and youth themselves. We believe early identification and intervention by focusing resources on addressing the root causes of youth crime and victimization will make a positive, lasting change in the lives of youth and their families. Youth Intervention Programs offered by the Calgary Police Service include:
Youth at Risk Development (YARD) Multi Agency School Support Teams (MASST) The Gateway Initiative About Face Come and learn more about the promise of focusing on children and youth development as a socially innovative approach to crime prevention!
There is always lots of networking and community building time, both before and after guest speakers present! Be sure to let folks know what great socially innovative work you're a part of or interested in.
Big thanks to our June sponsor First Calgary Financial!
Cheers,
The IX Team
