"Follow Your Passion! A formula for an Interesting Life” will be presented by Troy Wanek, at the Wednesday, August 13 meeting of the JeffCo Innovators’ Workshop. The workshop will be held in the Golden City Council’s Chambers at Golden City Hall from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The address is[masked]th Street, Golden 80401. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided by co-sponsor Perc innovative workspaces for entrepreneurs, independents and mobile professionals. Perc is located in downtown Golden.
The head of the Renewable Energy Technology Department at Red Rocks Community College, Troy Wanek has created a fascinating life for himself and his family out of his devotion to a single energy technology – solar. In addition to teaching and his duties at the college, Wanek owns Solar Energy Environments, LLC and travels extensively around the globe spreading the gospel about solar energy, and helping in-need communities establish solar facilities. Most recently, he was in Jamaica installing solar energy for medical clinics, was consulting about the technology in Jordan, and researching solar installation teaching methods in Australia, and several countries in Europe with a National Science Foundation cohort. Wanek will share photos from his travels and work.
The August 13 evening event will also feature new information about the JeffCo Innovation Faire that will be held Friday and Saturday, September 12 and 13, on the Warren Tech campus adjacent to Red Rocks Community College. The Faire will showcase Colorado’s new business startups and small businesses, educational institutions, large employers in the county, and more. Exhibits will feature new products, gadgets, and innovations from the fields of technology, science, and manufacturing. The JeffCo Innovators Workshop, City of Golden, the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation, JeffCo Public Schools, Warren Tech, the IX Power Foundation, the University of Northern Colorado’s Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship, the City of Lakewood Colorado, and more, is hosting the event. The Faire is being sponsored by 1stBank, Xcel Energy, the Gates Corporation, Car2Go and the IX Power Foundation. Participants with exhibits include Red Rocks Community College, the Renewable Energy Demonstration Center, Tesla Automotive, Golden Solar, Energy Fuels Resources, NREL, and many more. A business resource targeted particularly to assist inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs, the JeffCo Innovators Workshop is hosted by the City of Golden. The workshop offers advice, inspiration, and support to new business start-ups and entrepreneurs and seeks to assist those companies that wish to introduce a new product to the market. The monthly public meetings typically include an educational presentation on some aspect of starting a new business or bringing a new invention to market, a networking session, an advice and sharing period, and announcements of opportunities for business help and support within Jefferson County. A not-for-profit currently coordinated with volunteers from IX Power Foundation, the organization welcomes local business sponsorships of its meetings and activities.
