What is the most important investment an inventor can make?

The most important investment an inventor can make is to learn how successful inventors develop marketable products.  This is the topic of our special guest Deb Hess, Executive Director of the Minnesota Inventors Congress.  Deb was a keynote speaker at the  "Wisconsin Idea to Profits" Conference.  Deb is an advocate for inventors and innovation and has mentored many - including me.  Get a preview of the 2014 Invention Expo--an opportunity to get consumer feedback on your product or find a licensee.  This will be a great session!

Currently serving as the Program Director of the Minnesota Inventors Congress (MIC), Hess learned a great deal about the world of inventing while she served as an active volunteer for over 20 years before becoming the lead staff for the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. She uses her marketing and management experience to educate inventors about how successful inventors develop marketable products.

As the coordinator of the Invention Expo 2014™, the annual invention expo hosted by the MIC, she believes the three most important functions of that event are networking, the Inventing Success™ Workshops and the opportunity for inventors to test market their latest products. She has been working with independent inventors for over 30 years and involved in the coordination of the MIC Inventing Success™ Workshops for over 25 years. She is a certified trainer, coach and facilitator in fostering the creative and innovative spirit in entrepreneurs. The co-owner of a micro enterprise for the past 20 years, Hess is responsible for the marketing and accounting functions of the family business.  Having served as an elected official for Redwood County, she is well versed in consensus building skills and public policy.

"Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently." --Henry Ford

The Minnesota Inventors Congress is partially funded by the State of Minnesota to fuel innovation and economic growth.

Save the Dates – May 2 & 3, 2014

Join us for the first Invention Expo of its kind in MSP.  Exhibitors can show off their inventions to the public and product scouts and inventors, curious cats, students, or anyone interested in inventing or seeing new products are invited to attend.

Innovation and creativity are essential to grow our economy.  The Minnesota Inventors Congress™, (MIC) is a non-profit corporation that has been assisting thousands of independent inventors throughout the United States for 56 years.  The Invention Expo will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 2 & 3, 2014 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN.  The 57th annual Invention Expo is the oldest annual invention convention in the nation.  The Expo is designed to help inventors test market their products.  The inventors learn that by showcasing their latest product in a traditional trade show format.

Inventors Resources

Inventors need reliable information to successfully bring a marketable product through the invention development process.  In 1985,  the Minnesota Inventor's Congress opened our year round office and through our knowledgeable staff, inventors are taught that the most importance investment they can make is to learn how successful inventors develop marketable products. By directing inventors to reliable resources we help them understand that by being intimately involved in the process they will be able to make the best decisions for them. We also provide information that is available from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Trade Commission about invention promotion firms.

As a board member with the Minnesota Inventor Congress, we are looking forward to holding our event in Minneapolis as a way to better serve the exhibitors and for the public at large to attend and interact with the inventors about their inventions!

The Minnesota Inventors Congress is moving to the MPLS Convention Center this year from Redwood Falls, so it's influence and value to innovators will rise.
