Dasein- Kenneth Smith
Details
Dasein is merely "presence," a function ultimately of Heidegger's intuitivism (hence his apocalyptic and consummate capitulation to Being, which is expected to do our thinking for us while we become "most authentic" in being most receptive). This is not philosophy, I argue, but German Catholicism married to the mass-psychology of Nazism. Hegel has little agreement with Heidegger; I have argued they are poles apart. Certainly Heidegger has tried in his murky and mystagogical way to "clear a path" into the way the ancient Greeks ultimately thought, but they merely become expressions of his abyss of indefiniteness, his Schellingian romanticism of Nature and God.
Dr. Kenneth Smith is a writer, columnist, philosopher, retired teacher and artist. Dr. Smith has agreed to meet with us and give an interactive seminar on this philosophical issue.
