Service Virtualization and Geospatial Visualization
Details
Come join us for the third MeetUp of Intel Analytics DC!
We have two great presentations planned by Randal Dewey from Computer Associates and Scott Fairgrieve from HumanGeo. We will provide drinks and food so everyone can relax and get to know each other. Please spread the word about the event and we encourage you to bring anyone that may be interested!
Here is the planned agenda:
7:00pm: Meet and greet
7:15pm: Randal Dewey (Computer Associates)
Removing Constraints through Service Virtualization
7:45pm: Scott Fairgrieve (HumanGeo)
Advanced Web-Based Geospatial Visualization using Leaflet
8:30pm: Wrap-up and drinks
The Light Horse
715 King Street

We will be upstairs at the Light Horse, in the back near the shuffleboard tables.
Removing Constraints through Service Virtualization
For today’s competitive business, time-to-market and successful customer outcomes are critical to success. Learn how Service Virtualization simulates constrained or unavailable systems conventional virtualization cannot touch, eliminating delays, costs and risks imposed by dependent IT resources for development and testing. Using Service Virtualization, multiple teams develop in parallel, better manage test data and scenarios, and reduce the number of live environments required. As you’ll learn in this educational session, this approach reduces costs and risks, release cycle times, and expensive lab hardware and software requirements while delivering critical functionality to customers faster.
Randal Dewey
Randal has been involved with marketing leading-edge information technology solutions to both the private and public sectors for 25 years. He has helped evangelize the merits of the emerging Service Virtualization marketplace since 2009, first with Green Hat, and now currently with CA Technologies. Previously, Randal served as Vice President and General Manager for webMethods, where he led the introduction of their mobile products in North America and EMEA. Subsequent to that engagement, Randal was a Principle Member of Pervacio, Inc., helping raise $2.5 million in Series A funding while launching their mobile SAAS solutions worldwide. Randal currently lives in North Virginia with his wife Kimberly, and 2 children.
Advanced Web-Based Geospatial Visualization using Leaflet
In Intel Analytic DC's first meetup, Danny Holloway presented a tool that allows users to find and map the latest tweets in Australia using Leaflet, TileMill, MongoDB, and other technologies. Given the audience interest in geospatial technologies/analytics and web-based mapping, this presentation introduces and provides examples using the HumanGeo Data Visualization Framework, a soon to be released open source JavaScript framework based on CloudMade's Leaflet web-mapping framework. The goal of the Data Visualization Framework is to provide a core set of capabilities for visualizing data using Leaflet while simplifying common tasks and reducing the amount of code that developers need to write in order to create compelling geospatial visualizations.
