This month's topic: Adventures with BIML

The essence of the talk is about an alternative design pattern for an incremental staging load.

Celebrating the ability for BI developers to use creative means of delivering project work in spite of seeming insurmountable obstacles.

This talk will be a showcase of innovation, mixing up various pieces of code to solve a complex ETL requirement.

More of an ETL "hack" demo than an instruction of how to create the perfect incremental load design pattern but never the less resulting in a Production ready deployment.

In Paul's own words "It's not a text book approach. Ralph Kimball would probably not approve, and quite frankly, I don't care! :) "

Our speaker : Paul Hansen

Paul Hansen is currently responsible for Information Management at Western Cape Emergency Medical Services. It's his responsibility to provide data to management and make sure Metro Ambulances respond to emergencies as quickly as possible

Paul has been working MSSQL BI since 1999 when he was employed at Old Mutual as part of the HRMS migration project. He has since implemented many DWH projects, including a national DWH for computer aided emergency dispatch systems, he implemented the Student Interventions DWH at The University of the Western Cape, he has implemented various telecoms data warehouse solutions for Telkom / TMS data integration and prior to his current role in provincial government, he has worked as a lead / sole dev on various financial services DWH implementation projects.
