#GoldenAge (by Merel Willemsen and Nikita Gerritsen)
Merel Willemsen will share her research and creative writing process for the education project #GoldenAge. #GoldenAge is part of the “Portrait gallery of the golden age” an exhibition combining thirty enormous 17th Century group portraits from the collections of the Amsterdam Museum and the Rijksmuseum brought together on display at Hermitage Amsterdam. The project translates the stories behind networking and power in the 17th Century into a social media language of today in a way the young target audience can relate to. The result is an app #GoldenAge that uses mobile technology and iBeacons (Bluetooth transmitters) to allow the public to interact and socialise with them. Using social media messages the audience becomes friends with the Golden Age heroes and receives status updates from characters such us Rembrandt van Rijn or an update of Govert Flinck who created a selfie in his painting for Captain Joan Huydecoper.
Merel is an art historian, writer and art dealer. Her gallery, STAFF_ ROOM, exclusively represents socially and politically engaged artist. Artist that have important stories to tell and keep (re)inventing new ways to tell them. Such as Daniela Paes Leão (who is also the second speaker of this event!).
Nikita Gerritsen is educator at the Amsterdam Museum and will share with us the results of this project in the current education program.
Two prints of the exhibition will be available this evening, download the app#goudenEeuw (https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/goudeneeuw) (iPhone, Android) and unlock the stories of these group portraits!

Parallel Worlds Series (by Daniela Paes Leão)
Daniela Paes Leão is and social political engaged artist that will talk about her work 'Parallel Worlds Series', one of the outcomes from her project Museu da Crise, developed together with the art historian Merel Willemsen.
Museu da Crise is an international art project that explores the viability of translating the domestic strategies and parallel economies that are very much present in contemporary society, to a larger, city-, nation- and worldwide scale by implementing then into the existing urban infrastructure. Right now the Museu da Crise does not have a physical location, being a conceptual place still very much present everywhere, as is the current crisis.
Museu da Crise directs the human abilities of invention and imagination towards bridging the gap between the actual world and the incomplete, projected, desired possible world in order to create an authentic space. Daniela felt the urgency to visualize these possible worlds through a series of drawings to help make them more concrete, and by placing these drawings in the public domain, more tangible and attainable for the viewer.
