Five (5) - IoT Lightning Talks (update to the update)

  • April 29, 2014 · 6:00 PM

Tuesday April 29th:   "IoT Lightning Talks"  - See you there !

We are filling 5 slots with engaging IoT speakers.   5 speakers 10 mins each - fast, on point, and rapid fire !

If you would like to speak, send me a note.

 1.  For Want of a Nail - As we learned from the nursery rhyme, sometimes small problems have large consequences. In our increasingly connected world, our Internet of Things could either save the kingdom or cause it to fall. This lightning talk will explore both sets of possibilities.   Amanda Ruzin - VP, Experience Design

2.  Building a Sensor Backend - IoT challenges in storing & analyze time series data from sensors, smart meters, servers & more.    Justin DeLay - Co founder at TempoDB.

3.  Walking the IoT Data Path:   Devices, Radios, Cloud, Applications, Analytics and Integrations.   Understanding how the technical IoT pieces fit and real world experiences towards success.   Bruce Wiatrak - Director Solutions Engineer

4.  IoT with Arduino -   A quick overview of the basics, some examples, and "gotchas".   Kevin McQuown - Founder / Instructor / Coach

5.  Industry 4.O - - - IoT in the Factory.  Paul Elvikis.

If we have time, we will add a Panel Discussion at the end for an open-ended Q&A on IoT ! !

This will good ! !

Just a quick reminder to everyone (especially those that didn't attend the Tuesday night meetup) that if you are interested in getting more acquainted with Arduino, the Windy City Lab ( is offering 20% off to all IOT members for our June 14 class. You can find out more about the class at The promo code is IOTCHICAGO.

Work commitment kept me in the office last night. I really wanted to attend this meetup. As I dig into the topic more, we are going to see a brave new world develop. Hopefully, IoT is not building the Skynet prototype!

Really enjoyed the presentations. Being at the top of the hype curve has me a little scared now. :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
