Meetup Organizer Eric P. Rose, NPDP, MBA will lead our moderated presentation, “Protecting Your Invention” with our guest panel of three intellectual property attorneys. The panelists are expected to cover a wide variety of invention protection topics such as Non-Disclosure Agreements, Provisional Patent Applications, When to Best Patent Your Invention, and Trademarks.
PANELISTS:
Marc E. Hankin is a Registered Patent Attorney with a strong and broad science background and more than two decades of protecting innovators and their inventions. Mr. Hankin has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patents and trademarks and thousands of copyrights. He uses license agreements and litigation, when necessary, to protect his creative clients in the chemical, mechanical, and electrical fields, including fashion, jewelry, footwear, food, medical, dental, and optical products, amongst many others.
Jeffrey Sheldon is a Los Angeles patent attorney with Leech Tishman and a member of the Pasadena Angels. He has been recognized by California Lawyer as one of the 20 best intellectual property lawyers in the state. Mr. Sheldon also teaches, serves as an expert witness, and is the author of the foremost treatise on how to write patent applications, "How to Write A Patent Application." Mr. Sheldon's technical background is in the biomedical and chemical engineering arts. He was previously employed as a chemical engineer by Exxon and Shell. Mr. Sheldon has recently taken on the role of contributing author to Inventor’s Digest Magazine.
Kala Sarvaiya is an intellectual property attorney at SoCal IP Law Group LLP. Her practice emphasizes patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, licensing and has a strong emphasis in protecting software intellectual property. She prepares patent and trademark applications to protect intellectual property assets in the U.S. and internationally. She also renders patent and trademark clearance and infringement opinions and does IP due diligence supporting acquisitions. Ms. Sarvaiya is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley and earned the First Honors Award for Patent Law at Loyola Law School. She gained four years of software engineering experience at Hewlett-Packard Corporation.
The panelists are expected to cover a wide variety of invention protection topics such as Non-Disclosure Agreements, Provisional Patent Applications, When to Best Patent Your Invention, and Licensing Your Invention.
