Since the beginning, Radio-frequency identification (RFID) has been quite closely linked to the Internet of Things in supply chain use cases. Today RFID is found in many other industrial and consumer devices and the technology continues to evolve.
We will learn how RFID is deployed in real world use cases by one of the industry's leading companies, Vilant Systems. Vilant Business Development Manager, Christoph Röthlisberger, will be sharing popular uses for RFID in Asset Tracking, Rail, Pulp & Paper and general Supply Chain, and help us understand the reasons for RFID's popularity.
Pagatelia, a company based in Spain, issues active RFID in-cabin devices for cars and trucks, used for automatic payment in toll roads. Pagatelia co-founder and CTO Daniel Diez will present a system overview including Pagatelia’s extensible web platform, which offers access to payment and journey information to the involved stakeholders.
Long promised as the next generation of RFID, Near Field Communications (NFC) has relatively rarely been successfully deployed in real world use cases. One of the leading authorities on NFC and IoT, Dominik Gruntz of the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz Institute for Mobile and Distributed Applications, will explain the best applications for NFC, how it can be used in large or small IoT deployments and when we might expect it to become as popular as RFID.
If you are interested in RFID and NFC, be sure to attend this meetup in the ETHZ Hauptgebaude Room G 26.1. Thank you to our host, Muharem!
We look forward to seeing you and hearing about your latest projects!
