The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 7:30 PM at the West Glen Town Center in West Des Moines. This is the organization's annual fundraiser and awareness walk, and this year the Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers (IAF) has enrolled as both a volunteer and fundraising group. Three ways exist for us to help the Night the Walk cause.
Those who wish to help can volunteer their time setting up and organizing the event. The IAF contact for the Society is Jessica Menken, and she and LLS other workers will need help setting the tables, cording off the walking route, registering attendees, and other logistics. Ms. Menken has asked that those who can offer their time to arrive at 3:00 PM to assist in this. (Ms. Menken herself will be at West Glen at 10:00 AM, so for those IAF members who may have Saturday off, please arrive as early as you can! We strongly encourage it!)
Understandably, not everyone can volunteer their time for this cause. In place of time, IAF members are encouraged to become fundraisers for the Light the Night Walk. Donations are voluntary, but the LLS' goal is to have all walkers raise a minimum of $100. From cake walks to bingo to the classic door-to-door, please, everyone, we ask our organization to hit their personal target.
Please note that any funds we raise will be doubled by the Foundation Beyond Belief!
Everyone is encouraged to attend the Light the Night Walk even if they cannot aid in other ways. Simply being there for the survivors and the loved ones of those lost is the least we can offer. To raise awareness of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's cause is a noble deed in itself. We will walk together as a group carrying our organization's banner to show solidarity with others in the fight against this disease.

This volunteer and fundraising event is a prime target for IAF members to demonstrate a positive impact in the community. We want a massive turnout for the Light the Night Walk, so please come and help the battle against blood disease!
Thank you so much!
