There is a lot going on at the BIZ these days.  We are making some changes to our new letter and other marketing efforts in the coming weeks.  In the interim I wanted to give you a quick update.

  • Networking events are schedule for all of 2008 for the 3rd Wednesday of each month starting in February.  Meetings will be held from 11:30 to 1:00 pm at the Greater Des Moines Partnership in the Arthur Davis Room.  Put it in your calendar now for the year and make sure to attend!
  • I will be moderating the Power Breakfast Series presented by the Des Moines Business Record on the 19th of February from 7:15 to 9:00 am.  The panelists include Barry Griswell, Principal Financial Group, Ric Jurgens, Hy-Vee, Dr. Matthew Wendt, Superintendent Ankeny Community Schools and Gary Thomas, Iowa Automobile Dealers Association.  The topic is “Best Practices of Successful Organizations” based on topics from the book “Good to Great”.  You can register here.
  • Our February networking event will feature Tamera Kenworthy of On Point Strategies.  Tamera will speak on leveraging market research in your business.  Determining the strategic fit of a product or service remains one of the most challenging steps in business.  How do you objectively measure the likelihood of success for your new product or service before you spend large sums of money implementing your business model? Through a series of short stories, learn what market research can do to address specific business issues, how focused market research projects can be implemented for a surprisingly small amount of time and money, and how market research can save companies from certain failure. Tamera has 25 years experience defining and executing targeted market research.  She has worked in the large corporate arena, mid-sized businesses and for small startups.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong mix of perspectives.  Whether you are an emerging entrepreneur, a growing company looking to expand your reach or a member of a fortune 1000 company, understanding what is being accomplished with market research can have a significant impact on your business.  Lunch will be provided and there will be plenty of time for networking. The cost for the event is $10 for members and $12 for non-members. We look forward to seeing you there! Sign up now by emailing: [address removed]
