Hack on code and hardware!

It's almost the 3rd Sunday of the month again, so that means it's time for another OpenHack meetup!  Any software or hardware projects are fair game -- bring whatever you'd like to work on.  Looking for something?  Pick an open source project of your choice, and give back!

Like normal, we'll start with introductions where attendees can say a few words about themselves and what they're planning to work on.  As always, if anyone would like to bring food or drinks to share, it's very appreciated!

    Hi all,

I just got confirmation from David Schwindt of the Iowa City Police that he'll be coming by OpenHack on Sunday. David came to the last ICRuby meetup and described an application he'd like to prototype that would assist the police in finding stolen laptops, tablets, and smartphones. (Basically, the idea is to look for MAC addresses that match a list of ones that were reported as stolen.) It's a really interesting idea, and David has done a lot of the required legal and technical due diligence leading up to a prototype.

He specifically mentioned that an open source license would be preferred. Although a Ruby implementation was discussed, other languages like Python, Java, etc are more than welcome!

I'll be making a GitHub repo later with some details.

    See you Sunday!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
