Come on out to Goldwin Smith Auditorium this Thursday 4/19 at 6:00 to
meet Swidjit and learn about the various opportunities to get involved
with this exciting Ithaca-based social media startup & social
enterprise (while dining on pizza).

Swidjit is an Ithaca-based startup / social enterprise a week away
from launching after nearly 15 months work.  Up until this point,
development has been handled by local firm Singlebrook, but we would
like to find our own programmer to move
forward after this release.  We are looking for a CTO & COO willing to
work for equity or a programmer that can put in 25+ hours/week through
the end of the summer.  More info on these positions, as well as a
more detailed description of Swidjit, are provided below.

Swidjit is looking for a CTO to handle all the tech aspects of the
business, which is mainly coding at this point. Candidates for this
position must come highly recommended and possess a broad knowledge of
how to manage the technical side of a fast growing Internet startup.
Prospective CTOs must have strong Ruby on Rails development skills, as
well as be able to handle postgreSQL database environment, jquery,
CSS/HTML, amazon's EC2 cloud servers and anything else required to
develop, deploy, and manage a web enterprise. Candidates for this
position must be willing to work 25+ hours a week for equity.  We are
willing to consider an applicant without Rails experience if they can
demonstrate a high level of programming expertise and  the desire/time
to learn Ruby over the next couple months.

Alternatively, we could use a part-time Ruby on Rails developer who
can write clean, maintainable code using the best engineering
practices in the industry today (unit testing, source control,
continuous integration, automation, design patterns, etc). This is
flexible work that can be completed wherever and whenever you wish as
long as results are reliably delivered.  We are looking for somebody
that can work 15-30 hours per week, at least through the end of June.
Pay is $50-$70/hr
depending on experience (or equity for anyone willing to work a
minimum of 200 hours).

Swidjit is also looking for a COO with experience managing the
business needs of a startup, ideally a web/tech company.  Candidates
for this job must be willing to work 15-20 hours a week and live in

We are also looking for someone to handle campus marketing.

About Swidjit
Swidjit is an emerging social media platform that combines the best of
Facebook, Twitter, Etsy, and Pinterest into a tool that will serve as
the operating system for community life.  It is a virtual switchboard
designed to connect the people within a city, neighborhood, or dorm to
the wealth of resources and opportunities around them.  First and
foremost, Swidjit is a platform for the local economy, with an
emphasis on P2P commerce, trading, and collaboration,  but it will
also be a place to share, curate, and discover information, a tool to
promote or find events, and a way to connect you to the people,
organizations, businesses and ideas that are most important in your
daily life.  As a replacement for craigslist, it will harness the
power of the mobile, social web to build stronger communities and
thriving local economies, and help usher in a new era of
resourcefulness and resiliency.  Really though, Swidjit is not a
website, a technology, or a business: it is a revolution. By
facilitating greater access to the products, services, skills, and
information we need to support each other, Swidjit will enable a world
where we grow communities instead of corporations and help make this
world a more equitable and sustainable place.

Swidjit was recently featured at Cornell's TEDx conference.
