What we’re about

We are a small Aikido club in Toronto, Canada practicing the Iwama style as taught by Morihiro Saito Sensei and his son, Hitohiro Saito Sensei.

Saito Sensei studied Aikido with the founder Morihei Ueshiba for over twenty years, the longest of any student, and he promoted this style of Aikido to capture what Osensei practiced later in life, after moving to the town of Iwama in the Ibaraki Prefecture of Japan in 1946.

If you live in Toronto and practice Iwama style Aikido, or are interested in practicing it, please join our meetup group!  We are keen to connect with as many people as possible in the growing Canadian community practicing this wonderful martial art.  We are currently actively seeking more members and more teachers to train with.

Because we are a small group, we prefer to train with people with prior experience in martial arts.  If you are seeking to try training in Aikido for the first time, there are many many excellent established dojos in Toronto practicing other styles of Aikido that may suit your needs. This group is specifically for people interested in practicing the Iwama style.  If that's you, then please come join us!
