RIA + EF 4 + Silverlight 4 vs. WCF + EF 4 + Silverlight 4

The session will be given by Joel Hegeman and Henry Lee.

We will look at two main approaches to developing Silverlight 4 Data driven application.

1. Traditional WCF and Silverlight 4
2. Newly introduced RIA, and Silverlight 4

Using two possible patterns we will create very simple application starting with database design, WCF or RIA service layer, EF 4 persistence layer and Silverlight 4 UI layer.

We will look at pros and cons of each of the approaches. We will then look at some of the real world examples utilizing each of the above approaches and have some nice open ended discussions and find out how we can best utilize to improve our development.
