Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) transforms lives by helping people build job search skills and find jobs to achieve self-sufficiency. We believe that helping people to find jobs is a way to help people live better lives; our work with people, whether we are providing training to build skills or job search assistance, is linked to increasing employability. At JVS, we can help you with the skills and resources you need to find the right job. For some, the workshops and classes in our calendar can help you brush up the skills you need to get back to work. Others, particularly if you've been laid off, might benefit from working with one of our expert Employment Specialists Your work with an Employment Specialist will include: •Identifying your goals, work-related skill sets, interests and work environment preferences •Discussing updated information on the Bay Area Labor Market and its trends. •Identifying any barriers and challenges to employment that you may have, and developing strategies and referrals to overcome them. •Creating strategies for developing job leads and employer contacts. •Building your skills and strategies for an effective job search, including how to adjust resumes, write customized cover letters and network with employers. •Coaching on how to articulate and market your skills and work experience. •Advising on how to adjust to a new job and successfully advance in it. For more information, attend one of the JVS on the peninsula general orientations every Wednesday 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. JVS Job Search Assistance is made possible through funding from the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, the Walter and Elise Haas Fund, the Sandler Family Foundation, and the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development.
