Hello to all!
This group’s primary focus will introduce like minded to inquisitive Japanese foodies face to face. Anyone from professional chefs to home cooks is welcomed. I hope we can share ideas surrounding subjects like seasonal cooking, recipes, ingredients, sustainable farming and menus, and other culinary-related information. We’ll of course talk about Japan travel, Houston or Texas area Japanese restaurants, sushi, nabe, kaiseki, sake, wine, food pairing, etc…
Our secondary focus will introduce interested group members to actual live demonstration and instruction in how to prepare a number of Japanese dishes, some of which being very popular in Japan but difficult to find on Houston menus. We can also hold small “chef’s table” gatherings, for a fee, for those interested in a more personal dining experience. This will be a separate activity from our regular meetings.
As an introduction, I am a professional chef and have been blessed with training and work experience both here in the US as well as chef intern/ stagiaire work in Japan. It was an amazing experience for me. This of course does not make me a master chef, but I am an expert on the topic and I am happy to join with others who wish to share.
I plan to host 2 meetups per month, with more based on interest.
