I studied Japanese seriously from[masked], then abandoned it until 2002. Since then, I've been working hard to get it back (or better)--and to find opportunities to get to Japan, especially for work.

This is the best Japanese meetup group on the planet. I travel a lot and have checked 'em out. Lots of activities, so it's easy to participate in some parts even if you can't make it to everything. Oct '08 Update: It's gotten bigger and better since I wrote my earlier comment. Seattle is very lucky to have such an amazing group. You can dabble (like I do), or let it take over your life (LOL).
