BUILDING REACTIVE APPS
An Evening with James Ward
[REGISTER VIA EVENTBRITE not Meetup.com (https://javasig-20131009-reactive-apps.eventbrite.com/)]
Non-blocking, asynchronous, and reactive (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactive_programming) programming models are all the rage today. This session will explore in-depth why these patterns are important in modern apps. We will drill down and see how to apply them to event-driven web, mobile, and RESTful apps. To illustrate the concepts, we will use Java, Scala, Akka, and the Play Framework as examples.
James Ward (http://www.jamesward.com/) is an internationally known software engineer who works for Typesafe where he teaches software developers all about the Typesafe Platform (Java, Play Framework, Scala and Akka). James is a special friend to the NYJavaSIG and presents regularly at conferences around the world such as JavaOne, Devoxx and other international technical conferences.
We'll also do a quick review of the JavaOne 2013 Conference and hear what's new from AppDynamics on monitoring and dynamically troubleshooting Java applications.
REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT PRE-REGISTRATION. Please enroll early! We have limited capacity and our events sell-out fast.

It benefits all of us.
