Location-Aware Mobile Applications:
Today's Innovations Are Creating Opportunities for Tomorrow
Most of us have experienced the power and convenience that comes from knowing our precise location on our mobile phones, whether it be checking in on Foursquare, finding a good local restaurant, or navigating in our car. Location-aware applications are often called location based services (LBS), and this is one of the hottest areas for mobile device innovation right now. Features like indoor positioning, geofencing, and context-awareness are going to change the way we use our mobile devices--creating huge opportunities for the developers who find the best ways to use this technology. This talk will lay out a vision of what will be possible 2-3 years from now as a result of the innovations taking place in LBS today. Brock will explain what type of technology development is happening right now in mobile phone components, operating systems, and applications. We will then discuss how the combination of all these developments can be leveraged to create new and improved location-aware applications and services.
