Is Church Harmful?: If you missed the debate with Silverman and Hovind...

Hi all.  I think this might air well on a comedy channel.  If you can wade thru this long piece, and your stomach doesn't hurt so much from laughing, let us know what you think:  Is Church harmful?  Even if you watch part of it send us your thoughts.  I do think this is where the conversation between the religious and nonreligious should be....

Jones said, "If the "church", i.e., in principle, built the premise of its methods and practices on the words contained in a canon, i.e., one created by their own design, and it did, and if those who rendered εκκλησια failed miserably, i.e., by giving us the term "church", and they did, then would it be useful if English-only readers of the text were given a meaningful equivalent to what the documents of the NT claim that Jesus said.

My point is: we can all define "church" in various ways, but in this conversation, I think that it would be extremely dishonest if we didn't discuss what the authors of the NT intended, i.e., concerning the use of their language flux etc. Without question, all usages of "church" are far removed from the intent of the authors of the NT, and unfortunately, some continue to bash and applaud the writers of the NT as if they are the inventors of the "church", and this should alarm us all."

...they posted it on YouTube!

They never really answer the question, but it's worth watching if just to see Sye Ten Bruggencate get really pissy and sullen and David Silverman to literally do a "*headdesk*".
