Journocoders workshop: Data viz with D3
Details
Howdy. To kick off the new school year we're having a session on D3.js (http://d3js.org), aka “Data-Driven Documents”. It's a commonly-used JavaScript library for data visualisation that's tricky to learn but can help create incredible interactive graphics.
As per Journocoders style, we'll be going through a D3 tutorial (https://www.dashingd3js.com/d3js-first-steps) as a group, so make sure to bring a laptop! No programming experience is required, but we strongly recommend taking the Codecademy HTML & CSS course (http://www.codecademy.com/tracks/web) beforehand.
Oh, and make sure to join the collaborative hackpad (https://journocoders.hackpad.com/Journocoders-September-2015-7tUbHuP9KRZ) for the event!
Schedule:
7.00: Doors open
7.30: Show & tell
7:40: Intro to D3 lightning talk by John Burn-Murdoch
7.45: Tutorial
9.00: The pub!
