Mapping data with QGIS
Details
This month, we'll be making maps using QGIS - free software for analysing and visualising geographic data. Learn how to take a spreadsheet of figures and turn it into a beautiful map.
Why QGIS? It's flexible - you can customise every aspect of your map's appearance, and export it in a format suitable for print or online. And if you need it to, it can handle fairly large amounts of data.
Make sure to bring a laptop along, as in now-typical Journocoders style this will be a practical, hands-on workshop. No programming experience is required, but please install QGIS (https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html) beforehand. It's available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS.
Oh, and make sure to join the collaborative hackpad (https://journocoders.hackpad.com/Journocoders-August-2016-yKq9mCkgk2x) for the event!
