Building VR charts with Three.js

Details
This month we'll be combining Three.js with D3.js to create VR graphics. We'll be following a tutorial written by Roger Kenny of the Wall Street Journal, the interactive designer behind this awesome Nasdaq 3D roller coaster (http://graphics.wsj.com/3d-nasdaq/) visualisation.
Three.js is a Javascript library for producing 3D graphics in the browser. More examples of its uses can be found via the Guardian's VR interactive of a solitary confinement (https://www.theguardian.com/world/ng-interactive/2016/apr/27/6x9-a-virtual-experience-of-solitary-confinement) cell and Tour de France climb of Alpe D'huez. Make sure to bring a laptop along (Mac or Linux machines are preferable, but Windows is ok too). In now-typical Journocoders style this will be a practical, hands-on workshop. No programming experience is required, but we strongly recommend having a grasp of HTML and basic Javascript. Codecademy (https://www.codecademy.com/learn/web) can help with that.
If you have your own Google Cardboard, bring it along to see your work in all its glory. We'll have a couple available to borrow as well.
Oh, and make sure to join the collaborative hackpad (https://journocoders.hackpad.com/Journocoders-October-2016-4hwYirPQPLf) for the event!
Schedule:
