Sat Jan 25---Paddling Expo- Safety, General Information, vendors & US

Hi Everyone,

For any updates check the DEP website:

PLEASE REMEMBER : This is more of a Self Guided Event where you listen to the presenters or speakers and ask choose what to do !

Paddling Season is slowly on its way,

But before then, might as well go to an event that highlights aspects of paddling such as safety, wisdom gathered by any of the speakers, some vendors will attend, and of course for you to ask questions..

Happy New Year Al,

The DEEP Boating Division in conjunction with the Connecticut Marine Trades is hosting Connecticut Paddle Expo on January 25, 2014. The event will be held on the Ballroom (Level 6) of the Connecticut Convention Center. Admission to this event is FREE.  However, the CMTA Boat Show which is being held at the same time, would require the purchase of a ticket to enter.

I am hoping that you would be able to help us publicize the Connecticut  Paddle Expo event. Would you please let the members of your Meet Up group and any other folks that may be interested in this event know about it.

I have attached a couple versions of the flyer for you.

Enter through front/side entrance, the Ballroom is on one of the top floors.

This is a free event , walk by the Power Boat Show and head up the stairs.

You can go to the Power Boat show but there is an admission fee for that or sneak in somehow ????

100 Columbus Blvd #400, Hartford, CT 06103

I personally park in East Hartford and walk across the bridge because i need the excersize anyway, ----> you can park where you like.

I certainly appreciate any help you can offer with this.

Hope to see you there,

Mark Chanski

This event was hosted by the CT DEP and Coastguard for everyone's safety and to pas on knowledge and wisdom so you will have a safer time one the water, it was good to see many of you there and if you missed this event, we will have a self rescue event where you will be self rescuing yourselves in a lake environment first prior to the ocean events..

Al: Thanks for publicizing this event. I can't wait for the warmer weather to get my kayak in the water, fresh water that is, with no sharks.

I had a good time. I would not have known about it so thanks for posting! Looking forward to warm weather!

I would love to go to the Expo, but unfortunately I will be out of town. Will there be another event like this before the spring?

Hi Jamie and Everyone, This is the only one of this kind i will post for the year, during the rest of the season: You will learn "On the Water as we go along" and sometimes in real life conditions that turn bad. Self rescue practice is in June or so at a local lake.
