Simple backpacking trip

A casual, short, easy one-night backpacking trip on the Pigeon Roost Loop in a part of Hobbs SP. A good trip for those with limited winter camping experience. The trip will go (almost) regardless of the weather unless driving will be hazardous. If you are not prepared to cope with some rain or freezing temperatures should this occur, this may not be your trip. Participation will be limited to about 8 people. Outings like this are one way our local Sierra Club group raises money to fund operations. A donation of $5 would be gratefully accepted.

As usual, we'll Leave No Trace (and that means a lot more than just carrying out our trash). If you don't agree, don't sign-up.

Food: If you do not have a backpacking stove, we will make one available to you. If you are not familiar with food for backpacking, we can give plenty of suggestions.

Water: We will provide water filtration/purification of water from Beaver Lake.

Gear: At the trailhead, you must have appropriate gear and appropriate pack weight to be allowed to proceed with us on the trip. There will be a list of required, suggested and optional items. We will weigh packs which should be 25-35% of body weight or less. If you are not an experienced backpacker or winter camper, we will be glad to work with you before you leave town so that you will have what you need at the trailhead. You most likely already have things that can work.
