This breakfast we have David Richter as our guest speaker. David is a serial entrepreneur with over thirty years of progressive management, strategic planning, business development, and operations experience.
Following nine years of service with Hallmark Cards, Inc., he was a founder intwo technology based companies. Data Security Systems, Inc., offered offsitestorage and protection of backup magnetic media for corporate computeroperations. Following five years of successful operation, the company wasacquired by Iron Mountain Records Management, the nation’s largest recordsstorage company. His second company, the Electronic Vault, provided PC/LANbackup services over analog telecommunication circuits. From initial designconcept, to prototype development, and eventual market deployment, Richterwas responsible for directing and managing all facets of a leading-edge start-upcompany. He was directly involved in raising over a million dollars of seed andstart-up funds in this venture.
He has also served as Business Unit Manager of CompuNet Engineering, aKansas City-based network integration company servicing the legal, banking,and manufacturing markets, Vice President/General Manager of DeskStationTechnology, and President of Syberos, LLC.
In 1998, Richter founded Intellectual Property Management Group, Inc. (IPMG),providing venture catalyst services to start-up and early-stage technologycompanies. Since inception, IPMG has worked with over twenty technologycompanies with engagements ranging from business strategy, marketassessment, and operations planning, to interim CxO positions within clientcompanies.
He is an active and well-respected member of the Kansas City businesscommunity, having served as chairman of the board of governors for the SiliconPrairie Technology Association, founding chair of the ITKC steering committee,member of the board of trustees for the Kansas City Museum/Science City atUnion Station, and facilitator for the Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac® programs.
He currently serves as chairman of the board for E Learning Creations, Inc. andsits on the advisory boards of Creative Courseware, Inc. and Missouri RiverRelief.
Richter holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Tennessee anda master’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University.
