Community Potluck: Food and Energy

Food and Energy: discussion and potluck.

What’s the impact of your lettuce? How far did it travel to your plate? What are the new economics of food and how soon do we have to care?

All this and more will be discussed after our potluck. Special guest speakers to lead discussion, including Cynthia Brennan, founder of TABLE Local Market, Heather Flournoy, founder of the KatonahGreen Network and Stephen Filler, legal counsel for Joule Assets.

Bring a dish to share, your latest green news and a smile.

We'll use the Slow Food principles of good, clean, fair food for this event, as well as make it a zero waste meal. That means:

  • do your best to use food that is clean and local (organic, local, or sustainably grown, whether certified or not).
  • bring your own reusable cutlery, plates, cups, bowls, and serving ware; cloth napkins. NO DISPOSABLES PLEASE
  • Know where your food comes from! (and let others know too. table cards with ingredients listed and food sources are helpful)

It's inspiring when people share what they'll be bringing, or post here to ask for ideas.

$5 suggested donation per adult.

I enjoyed meeting all participants at the door, having an excellent array of tasty foods and some good conversations. Thanks to Heather for the invite; it was good to know how many are interested in being/becoming "green".

Great food and stimulating discussions. I was motivated to visit the westport farmers market this morning and purchase local, seasonal produce. Even found some LETTUCE!!!!

Too many members do not post photos or Bios.
Are they shy ? Hiding something ?
Tell the group who you are, and what you stand for.

Absence of photos or bios can also mean different technical abilities for everyone! I would not assume any character trait from the usage of the tool! :-)

Good Morning. I was impressed by the presentation given by EnergizeNY yesterday and remembered mention of a group called Katonah Green. I assume that this is the Group and if so, I look forward to meeting you all on March the 1st.
    With kind regards, John WL

Bad news!! My daughter Caleigh is singing in a concert at JJMS to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Foundation. The concert has been rescheduled twice now, first because of the Newtown tragedy, and again because of the recent snowstorm. The new date has been set for, alas, March 1. At - you guessed it - 6:30. I'm very sorry to have to miss this wonderful event.
