First Tuesday Paddle Training Night

GPS Co-ordinates: WPWA HQ N_41_32_27 W_71_41_48 (Degree, Minutes, Seconds format)

Basic Training:
Training night for new paddler and a Paddle on Frying Pan Pond. We will be covering most of the basics which includes, required equipment, getting in and out of a kayak, and basic paddle strokes. We will then paddle upstream toward Frying Pan Pond to practice what was learned and give each paddler pointers/suggestion to improve the paddling experience. We will also talk about many safety issues and rescue techniques. Note: This will not be a rescue class.

Cost:
A $20.00 donation to the Wood Pawcatuck Watershed Association is being requested. With this donation, we will include all necessary equipment including a kayak (solo), paddle, and a PFD. Footwear is required (No bare feet).

Requirements:
All paddlers will be required to wear a PFD (at all times while on the water) in the manner intended by the manufacturer with all zippers and buckles securely fastened.

Please bring a flashlight

Class size:
This class will be limited to 8 students.

No Shows:
There will be no refunds. No Shows will not be allowed to attend future training classes. 48 hours notice needed to cancel.

Directions:
From I-95 Exit 3B, go west on Route 138 for 0.4 miles the turn right onto Route 3 at traffic light. Follow Route 3 north for 0.8 miles. Left onto Skunk Hill Rd for 0.7 miles. Right onto Arcadia Rd for 1.2 miles to WPWA Headquarters on left.

Note: the Barberville Bridge is closed to traffic. You must approach from the southern end of Arcadia Road.
