This hiking group is for nature lovers who would rather spend their weekends in the great outdoors than in the shopping mall. It's open to fit and energetic people over the age of 18. Respect for the environment and each other, friendly, generous and open-mindedness are the prerequisites for becoming a Happy Hiker. Our focus is on "camaraderie on the trail" and safety while having a ton of fun out in the bush — so a sense of humor is a must with us!
***WARNING! — Our calendar is VERY active ALL four seasons and may be beneficial to your health***
'Happy When I'm Hiking' promotes connecting people with nature by getting them outdoors to decrease stress, get fitter, healthier and inspired!
Our vision for 2016 is to create an active group of outdoorsy people who think nothing of hiking at least once a week..for 52 weeks!

I see this meetup as an opportunity to welcome all walkers and hikers that share a love of the great outdoors. We consider hiking a great way to combine exercise and meet like-minded people who like a bit of a challenge.
We do hikes of many varying levels and each one could require different skills or abilities with the ultimate goal of having a fun and enjoyable experience. Our hikes and other activities are a great way to relieve stress, enjoy some exercise, and “unplug” while enjoying the variety of what Mother Nature has to offer.
As a group, we limit our hikes to small groups for the comfort and consideration of others and to better enjoy the environment. Hiking in large groups is not fun for you or anyone else on the trail or the event hosts. Giving back is important to us and our members and we pledge to practice Leave No Trace (LNT) outdoor ethics.
Our hiking pace varies according to terrain and weather conditions, keeping safety, exercise and enjoyment as guiding principles. How strenuous and how much you are willing to push yourself on a hike is different for everyone and one of the main reasons we try to mix up the hikes offered. While we may sometimes push the group to pick up the pace, we do like to take in the surroundings as well as enjoy the company of the great people who love a challenge!
If you like our approach to hiking, then please join us in the adventure!
Looking forward to meeting you on the trail!
