WebGL on iOS8, why this is HUGE news for web and mobile design

Those who've tried out the iOS8 update were met with something truly remarkable: WebGL is enabled by default in Mobile Safari. With Apple finally on board, we now have support from ALL major desktop and mobile browsers.

So, what does this mean for you?

As web designers, it means you have some new tools in your toolbox. You can deliver native performance applications in the browser, with 3D graphics for product or data visualization. As mobile developers, it means you have a cross platform development pipeline, as alternative to building natively for iOS and Android. And for creative coders, it means we can start pushing the frontier of the web, to develop post-app experiences, marrying the lessons and practices learned in game and app development, with the scale of the web platform.

Khronos is the standards body behind WebGL (among others). This is an official Khronos meetup, hosted by the team at Verold. Come out and join us to learn about WebGL and new possibilities in the browser.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
