Full "Wolf Moon" Hike or Snowshoe in North Park

Update 1/15/2014 1:00pm: Obviously we will not be snowshoeing this evening. We will hike ~4 miles on the orange blazed trails around the golf course. Trail conditions will include mud and ice. It is highly recommended to wear boots with tread and ankle support.

Come join L.L.Bean for this free outing as we hike, snowshoe (conditions permitting) or both North Park's Golf Course under the Full Wolf Moon. Half way through we will pause for hot chocolate!

***Important***
An announcement will be made by 3:00pm on the day of outing indicating whether we'll be hiking, snowshoeing or both. Snowshoes and supporting equipment is not provided by L.L.Bean for this outing. Currently, L.L.Bean does not rent equipment.

Activity Level:
Physical Ability/Cardiovascular Demand: Easy
Level of Experience: Intermediate

This hike/snowshoe is considered "Intermediate" due to being at evening, possible slick surfaces and some hills.

Hike distance will be ~4 miles.

Snowshoe Description:
Please plan on bringing snowshoes to use if there is sufficient snow cover (6 inches or more). Snowshoe distance could be between 2 and 3 miles. It will depend on the group dynamics.

What to bring for Hiking and/or Snowshoeing:
Dress in Layers (avoid Cotton)
Sturdy Hiking Boots
Two Light Sources: e.g. Headlamp, Flashlight, Extra Flashlight
Water to Stay Hydrated
Snacks

Snowshoeing:
Snowshoes
Snowshoe or Trekking Poles
Winter Boots (Gaiters over hiking boots with work)

Additional: Lip Balm, Camera, Change of Shoes, Dry Bag, Walking Stick or Trekking Poles, Personal Medicines, Eye Protection

Minimum Age 8: This outing is open to ages 8 and above. Children 8 to 14 years of age need to be accompanied by a participating adult. Children 15 to 17 years old can participate alone after their parent has signed the appropriate release form.

Dog-friendly: If we hike; leashed, people friendly, vaccinated, well socialized outdoor dogs are welcome. If we snowshoe; dogs will not be permitted.
