LA Arduino - First Meetup!

Let's get together to get to know each other and define some direction for this group. The idea is to find out the level of experience of the group in general and what we can do together. Also it would be a good boost for people that are starting with Arduino.

If you have an Arduino topic/project/talk that you want to present, please feel free to do it. Lightning talks are welcome too.

Please feel free to submit ideas about what we should on this first meetup.

Sponsor

I also want to announce Satellite Santa Monica as our sponsor for the first meetup. They are going to host our first meetup for free.

Parking

There is underground parking below the facility. It's $6 to park there. You can also park around Main st.

That was a great meeting! I showed up very late but everyone was happy to show and explain their projects to me, thanks fellas!

A note for next time: A couple of us conspired for an 'after-party' at 212 Pier, a 24hr cafe just around the corner. We continued our discussion for another hour or so, over good coffee and pie.

    There's a code simulator that I'm really enjoying. Here's a link to it: www.arduino.com.au/Simulator-for-Arduino.php

The sim is a work-in-progress at version 0.98, and has a couple of bugs here and there. But their forum is fairly active and the tech support seems responsive.

It's nice to be able to write code and step through it, change variable values in watch windows, and observe outputs on an image of the board. It even has conditional breakpoints. A pretty good deal for 12 dollars American.

I am not affiliated. This is a good development tool and it makes up a little bit for the relatively plain Arduino development environment.

Whoever is in charge of this group, could you please just find a place and a time that would seem to work for people and have a meetup?

I would really like to learn from people who are interested in getting together to talk about Arduino and the world that can be created with it!

I may have a venue for you in downtown los angeles. If you can give me a list of possible dates, how many people will be attending, event outline (time topic) and what do you need. [masked]

Set up a place, and I'll be there so as long as it's not on a weekday. ;) Need someone to babysit, uh, I mean host...then I can do it too! But, I'm an Arduino newb.

I'm new to Arduino, so I'm interested in meeting up. That Barbara's at the Brewery seems like a cool spot. Never heard of it before. Where post people at?

What about Barbara's at the brewery (http://www.barbarasatthebrewery.com/) I've gone to some meetups there and there's usually plenty of room and... beer to get the creative juices flowing :) plus it has good food as well.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
