Calling all people studying Ruby and Ruby on Rails or Web Development.
We meet up with our laptops and work together either on a tutorial or a book or on our own projects and have the support of each others knowledge. We'll discuss any problems you are having and go over them together. Programmers of all varieties are welcome from brandy new to pros. Opportunities for pair programming and mentoring are always welcome.
We meet every Thursday night 6:00-9:00 pm with occasional changes to accommodate the LARuby Meetup and other events.
• Everyone is welcome but women and awesome people are especially encouraged to attend.
• Please be kind, considerate and respectful of everyone in the group. Learning together can be hard. It is a marathon not a sprint. We are working together to learn, not competing against each other for answers, who is smartest or who knows the "best" way to do something. We are also learning how to be in a team environment and how to work and communicate with other programmers.
• If you are brand new to Ruby or Ruby on Rails, don't feel intimidated, everyone has to start somewhere. We will help you get up to speed if you are willing to put in the time. There are a lot of great tutorials to get you up and rolling even if you've never programmed before.
• A Path to Learning
Go to http://rubilicious.github.io/ A lot of thought was put into setting up a path to learning Ruby and Rails as laid out in the Phases links. There are a lot of great resources on this site. Feel free to fork and contribute to it. It is a Middleman blog on GitHub.
