Kei's Baking Class: Green Tea Macaron, Madeleine, Panna Cotta & Chocolate Tarte

OK, let me clarify again - if you have helped me with cooking meetups in the past (and let me remind you, I've been organizing cooking meetups for 5 years, so you can claim for the one in 2008, too!), or you're pledged to help this time with setup, volunteer to be sous chefs, and cleanup, etc, you can take 15% off, which is $5.25, so the payment to be made is $29.75.  If you have any problem to send, please let me know so that I can give you the money request link through Paypal.

Sorry, but you can't take more than 1 discount, but if you have helped multiple times, please claim it for the next cooking lesson!)

If you have already paid $35, and can take the discount, I'll refund you the difference.

The class format has been changed and it will be mainly demo with a few volunteers to help. Kei will show the whole process of making 4 different desserts including his famous signature green tea macaron)

1) Green tea macaron

2) Madeleine

3) Panna Cotta

4) Chocolate Tarte

1) Because of the change of the class format, the fee has been reduced from $50 to $35. If you'd like to attend, please sign up with the prepayment of $35 by Paypal.

2) Kei will bring an assistant, but I'm also recruiting a few sous chefs from this group.  We'll need to work fast as he'll be making 4 desserts in 2.5 hours (the last 30 minutes of the class will be for eating them!!)), so experienced bakers will be needed to help him. Please let me know if you like to be sous chef!

3) The class will start at 9:30am as he needs to work later the day. Please be on time as you don't want to miss anything!

4) I'm planning to hire a cleaner, but if you could come early to help set up, you'll get 15% discount!

Also, if you have helped me in the past with cooking classes, you're entitled to the discount as well. Please let me know.

Excited to see you soon,

Indulge LA

The baking class by Kei will take place at Surfas as scheduled at 9:30am for

3 hours on Sat June 8th. The menu will be posted tomorrow, but it will be

chocolate desserts and $50 per person.  We can only take up to 25 attendees.

To sign up, please RSVP with prepayment by Paypal.  I'll update again tomorrow night.

There are already 45 interested members signed up so far, but that was before my posting the price and Paypal link.  If you no longer can attend, please change your

RSVP to open up your spot. Thank you.

Thank you!

Dear members,

Hope you're enjoying a nice weekend.  I'm excited to host the first meetup in Monthly Cooking Meetup series at Surfas tomorrow. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Chef Philip Sinsheimer again.  It's going to be fun! (and since the class will be for 3 hours starting at 11am and we will eat at the end of the meetup, please don't come with empty stomach, otherwise you won't be able to concentrate on learning!)

To plan a cooking meetup takes lots of time, but I just love love love doing it)) It's the best hobby I've ever had and kind of addictive too lol  But, I'm thrilled to tell you another great news now!

Do you remember Kei, pastry chef (formerly at Nobu in Tokyo and LA, and Sashi in Manhattan Beach) who has taught us 5 baking lessons a few years ago?

He's been extremely busy and hasn't been able to teach us lately, but I've been in contact with him. Recently he told me that he was invited to compete at a national competition in Chicago this May, and after that he could teach us again!!!))

So..... before his schedule gets so packed, I just wanted to secure our spot on his calendar now. Thus I'm posting without much details.

We don't know what kinds of sweets he will be teaching yet, but I'd like to hear your suggestion/request too.

I'm also thinking of having a mini vacation for myself visiting Chicago again - one of my favorite US cities) -  to eat good food of course and also give him moral support if he needs it, but maybe he doesn't. But it would be a nice change for me at least...  Yes, there are so many places I would like to check and re-visit in Windy City.

Details will be announced later - date, time, venue, price are still tentative, but if you'd like to attend, please RSVP for now to show your interest. Once the details are finalized and announced, the Paypal link will be posted to make a prepayment.

Thank you very much, Kei-san, for teaching us again!!

Thank you Chef Kei for the great class. Of course, thank you Sally for organizing this wonderful event!! Great location & easy parking. If you love to cook, it is also a great place to shop for anything you need in the kitchen.

I've never been to Chicago, and I'd love to see it. Depending on date, I would like to join you on the trip also.
