September Event: Introducing ASP.NET vNext, the future of Web Development

Introducing ASP.NET vNext : The future of web development on the Microsoft Stack.

Are you interested in the latest, most cutting edge version of ASP.NET? There are major changes coming and we need to be ready for it.

In this presentation we will introduce ASP.NET vNext, the newest iteration of the Microsoft Web Development stack. See how ASP.NET MVC and WebAPI fit into this new modular and decoupled development stack.

This is the new direction being taken by Microsoft in regards to ASP.NET. Come learn about why these changes are being implemented and how they can improve your work flow.

We’ll examine the new cloud optimized framework and see how it can provide you with a leaner, faster and more memory efficient web application. The various components will be examined including how Roslyn and Nuget contribute to this new framework.

This includes lots of code demos using Visual Studio “14” CTP and we’ll outline new ways you can build web applications and websites.

ASP.NET vNext is based on OWIN and gives you more flexibility, more performance and ultimately a great way to build next generation web applications.

We’ll also briefly look into Angular JS integration and how ASP.NET vNext is perfect for Single Page Applications and the future of the web.

    The session was informative.
When we present new technologies, it would be nice if we can spare some time to explain in what situations does this new technology fit and provide some real world examples.

Thanks for your talk Hattan! You told a great story, the slides made me laugh, the demos were great, and I was engaged beyond the end, and then some. VS 14 CTP 3 installed (on a VM) and ready to dig in some more. #alphasoftwareftw

PS - I concur on parking logistics. I lucked out with a spot on Cochran before 630p, but I can't imagine it was much easier for everyone else.

Great job! I really enjoyed seeing what is coming down the pipe. From a logistics maybe we can figure out how to figure out parking situation. I had to leave a little before 9 to make sure I did not get a ticket where I parked. After 9 it was only for overnight parking. Otherwise I would have liked to have stayed for the full presentation. Thanks!

It was pretty good, maybe a bit long. Would have liked to dig into the vNext and code earlier, but Hattan did a very nice job.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll adjust the intro to be shorter so if I give the talk at different user groups it's not as long.
