Show off Your Robots at LosCon Make Room

Calling all DIY enthusiasts! Make Room is a mini fair of awesome and unexpected do-it-yourself projects. This year we are featuring Annika O’Brien: Founder of the LA Robotics Club, innovator, reluctant celebrity, and most importantly, teacher. Annika will show you how to "Make robots, not war."

The make room will have exhibits on costumes and prop making, with experts and showbiz professionals revealing insider tips while displaying their dazzling creations. It will be a hive of activity with demonstrations, science exhibits, workshops, movie-making, Cosplay, free green screen photos, and much more.

Whether observing or making, this event will spark your imagination. We want you to explore your creativity! Come share your latest project be it electronic, robotic, decorative, functional, or simply awesome. Demonstrations can be anywhere between fifteen minutes and an hour, but please note* that we will need a time estimate in advance.

All of this excitement is to be found at the 40th annual Loscon: a three day extravaganza of workshops, demos, discussions and parties aiming to bring geeks together. Come join us and fellow fans of science fiction, fantasy, horror, gaming, costuming, and the maker movement as we do our best to titillate, entertain, and educate. Loscon 40 will be held at the LAX Marriott on November 29th through December 1st.

If you're interested in giving a presentation or talking about your projects, please leave a comment below. An R2D2 and a quadcopter would be given priority!

@CoCo: What an amazing website you have! I'm sure you will be the hit of the show. I wish I could make it just to hear you speak on Sunday. Please consider starting your own Youtube channel, you may just be the next Ladyada!

Is there a cost? Doug and I are considering bringing the boxing robot but not if we have to pay.

it looks like the entrance fee is structured as an organization membership fee, $60. If I got this wrong, please someone speak up, thanks

I'd pay $60 to see those wings. I could demo my current project if anyone wants to play with it:

It doesn't make for a very spectacular presentation though; it just uses a PS3 controller to move servos and blink LEDs.

If you want, I can give a demo on my robotic third arm that I built.=...

Or some of my robotic wings.

I'm very excited. I'll have a table in the Make Room and talking on Sunday at 11:30am. Hope to see you there!

I have numerous scratch-built robots I could demo. But don't expect me to pay a $60 registration fee to come give a presentation.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
