OPEN LAB (ground floor) is ALL Projects of any scale. We will break into small groups and anyone interested in doing their own thing or would like to create their own conversation group, feel free to do so. We will have space for the NAO developers and the Quadrotor builders, as well as access to soldering irons, tools, drill press, rapid prototyping machines, etc. Bring your laptop; there's Wi-Fi!

I will be giving a demonstration on building soft circuits for conducting and insulating. I will bring all the materials myself and will make enough for everyone interested to take some of the material home with them.

Another great meeting. I am setup to make my Arduino project and I met several people that I can bounce ideas off of.

Anyone looking for a starter kit for Arduino I will be bringing some. If you want to guarantee you get one, leave me a note or order one on my web site (local pickup/COD) and I will put your name on one for you.

David Grober PORPOISE, writing Jeff: Thanks for your info on Open ROV. I checked it out. Very cool. Maybe it can become part of what we are doing with PORPOISE. See ya Sunday, and anyone else in PORPOISE Robotics and helping to mentor our first high school class of students.

FYI Rocstock is Nov. 10 - 11th. This is the largest rocket launching event of it's kind. Federally approved rockets launching upwards of 10,000 feet. Rocket clubs from all around the country meet on this dry lake bed twice a year. I've been before and it's quite a spectacle. Rockets have a lot in common with robots and sometimes robots have rockets and rockets have robots!

Attending on purpose to learn about Porpoise,
my Proboscis smells something quite fishy.
I hope you won't mind, as I end with this rhyme
    this pronouncement prohibits more lines.

    C ya Sunday

By the way I backed on kickstarter.

You guys don't mind new people coming in to check out the group so we can learn, right? I'm hoping to pick up some general knowledge about circuits/robotics and this seems like the perfect place!

'course not Jonathan. You are welcome. In fact, you should bring your friends too. Do not forget to RSVP you + your friends so that we have an exact count.

This sounds like a fun meeting. I hope to have purchased an Arduino kit by then, or at least get recommendations for what kit to buy. I want to be able to detect changes in light and send data via wifi upon the light event. What should I buy?

Hello John, Welcome to the club.I will be attending the meetup and can supply you an Arduino and basic kit. Many people have purchased them from me for the Arduino 101 classes. The most popular kit is $50, contains a R3 UNO, Breadboard, Jumper Wires, Resistors, LEDs, Pots, Switches, 2- Micro Hobby Servos and lots more. Far better value that anyone has found on the net that I am aware of. Typically I bring 4-5 kits but will have more because last month I ran out. I also carry many other Arduino 'accessories'. Feel free to contact me is you have any questions or would like to reserve a kit.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
