What kinds of robotics projects are you most interested in working on?

Projects that involve low-cost materials (mostly scavenged or recycled) and open-source software and architecture so that I may be able to help bring more underprivileged people from around the world (particularly women and minorities) into the fields of science and engineering. I am also interested in robotics projects that can help automate agricultural and urban domestic challenges in food production, water and waste management, energy production and wildlife protection.

How would you describe your experience with robots?

It has been very positive except that most robot education focuses on creating toys rather than useful things. I would rather spend my time creating robots that can help improve the quality of people's lives and preserve our environmental and ecological systems.

What do you hope to gain from this Meet-up group?

A chance to share ideas, learn new techniques and accelerate movement along the learning curve.
