Any original Trekkies out there? If you are, you might remember an episode called “Arena” where the handsome Captain Kirk bests a somewhat dubious looking lizard alien in a fight to the death.
**Spoiler Alert** Being outmatched by the reptile’s obvious superior strength, the Commander realizes he has all the ingredients to make a crude cannon and knocks the poor reptilian out with a blast to the chest.
Our next trip is going to take us to the scene of that epic battle, affectionately known as Vasquez Rocks. It was named after one of California's most notorious bandits, Tiburcio Vásquez, as he utilized the unusual rock formations to elude capture by law enforcement. It’s a very popular tourist stop and we’ll give you enough time to play around on the rocks and get your share of photos.
And it just so happens the famed formation is located in the town of Agua Dulce. This fair city also is home to the delicious food of the Cowboy Tavern, a very beloved motorcycle hangout. We'll have a lovely lunch and head on home afterwards.
The ride will be a Moderate to Advanced ride as the route there will take us through Little Tujunga Canyon and Soledad Canyon to get there and Sierra Highway likely to get back home. The entrance and parking at Vasquez Rocks is a dirt affair, so be prepared to do a little off-roading.
NO Highways/Freeways for this ride!
