SIGN UP HERE!!!! (http://www.laphp.org/events/40594342/)

We are having a great event coming up in November. Instead of the general talk we decided to do something different and make a free form panel discussion on what makes a great developer.

We invited several CTOs from the leading local companies, some of our member developers as well as several recruiters for our panel, so that we can look at the topic from the different perspectives.

We will discuss on what CTOs and recruiters are looking at when they search for the talent and how we distinctiate between the different levels of developers -- i.e. what makes up a difference between the junior, mid-level and senior developers.

The goal is to come up with an answer where people can see what clearly the three levels. If you are interested in a career advancement, this would be an excellent opportunity to find out what qualifications are necessary to move to the next level.

We will also solicit some tips form our fellow developers and members on what really constitutes a great developer and what you can learn in order to become one.

This discussion would not be particularly PHP specific, as our firm belief is that one should master at least several different platforms and be aware of more general principles of software design in order to really become a great developer.

We will have a brief introduction by Khari Mack - one of our member developers and the free form discussion will follow. We invite everyone to participate in the discussion, not just our panel.
