Thank you for your interest in the LA Writers Workshop!  We are interested in growing our group.  If you are comfortable with the criteria listed below, please apply.

We provide constructive critiques on fiction work, and require each member to present projects on a regular rotation.  As great as your story may be, our goal isn't to tell you how much we love it, it's about giving you our individual opinion of what does and doesn't work.

If interested apply to be accepted.  We ask for a fiction writing sample up to 2,000 words in length.  We are not a writing class, therefore, we expect that members in the group know the basics of creative writing, and have acceptable grammar skills.  All reading material presented in the group should have been edited for spelling/grammar errors, and technical errors before being presented to the group for critique.  No, we do not expect perfection.  We do expect that you have taken the time to edit for basic grammar issues, etc.

Since meetings are held at a personal residence, you will be invited to a restaurant (Denny's, Starbucks, whatever works) meet-and-greet before being confirmed as a new member.  Please email the group organizers if you have any questions.

We do not work on poetry, or non-fiction, material.

Regards,
LA Writer's Workshop

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
