R is an open source software/programming language for data analysis, statistical modeling, visualization, data mining, predictive analytics, statistical computing, exploratory data analysis etc.
This group is aimed to bring together practitioners (from industry and academia alike) in order to exchange knowledge and experience in solving data analysis/statistical problems by using R. Besides discussing techniques and solutions in R, emphasis will be put on providing a good understanding of the data analysis and statistical modeling methodologies used. Also, we will devote time to help new users become familiar with R and its numerous capabilities.
Based on the interesting discussion on packages at the October 8 event, at this meeting there will be four short (15 min) talks on various modeling packages:
Eric: randomForests
Jeroen: lme4
Lionel: zelig
Szilard: caret
We should have plenty of time (and cookies) for discussions and networking after the meeting. This is also usually the best time to find out more tips on using R. Read more
What members are saying
“ It is fun. ”
“ To become more informed R users and developers. Nobody can know all the capabilities of R, so this is a good chance to interact with people who have different or better ways of solving problems. ”
