Let's get out for a easy-moderate mid-day hike / snowshoe on Hedgehog Mountain in Freeport. The park is a 196-acre property owned by the Town of Freeport. Over 5 miles of trails lead visitors up Hedgehog “Mountain” (at 300 feet, it is the highest point in Freeport), through mature pine and hemlock forest, over and around old stonewalls. Hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are allowed on all trails. Mountain biking and snowmobiling are allowed on designated trails.
Snowshoes or traction devices are recommended as there may be ice on the trails. As with any winter activity, please dress in appropriate layers.
This walk will be cancelled in the event of severe weather.
