As. The Open Space Programs first purchase in 2002, the Corron. Farms is often referred to as the Crown Jewel" property. These 220 acres were previously owned by the family of one of the areas first settlers, Robert Corron. nineteen year old Robert arrived in Campton Township in 1835, laid claim to the land and built a log cabin. the dairy farm, which supplied milk to the 1893 Worlds Fair in Chicago, was managed by his descendants for more than 160 years.
180 acres of restored crop land to prairie, along with 41 acres of restored oak savanna and wetland landscapes. In 2003, Corron Farms was listed on the Kane County Historic Register.
Join us at their Winter Wonderland as we offer snowshoe clinics and other fun events. there is a $5 per person charge for the event (which is set by Corron Farms, and all proceeds will go to restoring the historic barn).
