Hi, fellow libertarians. Some of you may be aware of the Restore the Fourth rallies that are shaping up to take place all over the country on July 4, in defense of our Fourth Amendment rights. In light of the recent revelations of the NSA's spy programs, an idea was hatched on the Reddit website to organize and show the world that we won't stand by idly and let our liberties be stripped from us.
We want this rally to be huge, but we need to get the word out to as many liberty-loving people as possible (though we expect this to appeal to people from all corners of the political spectrum -- all it takes is a love for Constitutional liberty, after all).
I am not the organizer. I've joined in hopes of making this a big rally that people will have to pay attention to. I believe our country stands at a tipping point, and this is our chance to speak up in defense of the founding principles that made this nation great. It's also personal for me. I have a little girl at home, and I don't want her growing up having her own government treating her like a suspect.
It is important to note that this is a nonviolent rally, and our goal is to educate people, not to confront them. The non-aggression principle applies here.
There were four of us at the first organizational meeting a week ago. We've started the ball rolling, and we'd love to see you there to help us plan our next steps. Or if you just want to take part in the rally on 7/4, we'd love that, too. (Rally site TBA.) Come to Black Coffee Co-Op this Thursday at 6 p.m. if you'd like to join the planning and discussion!
