This will be a bi-weekly gravel ride to get you ready for Trans Iowa, Dirty Kanza, etc. or if you just want to go on some awesome gravel rides!
Join in the fun of Gravel Grinding and learn what it takes to complete 200 plus miles in one day from Dirty Kanza finisher John Strom!
This ride will be 100 miles or more, and will increase in distance and intensity as Spring gets closer. You will need a bike with at least 32 mm tires - any cross bike, mountain bike or touring bike should be sufficient. The wider the tire, the more comfortable you will be. You will also need to bring plenty of food and water as well as enough clothing to keep you warm in changing weather conditions. Lights will also be a good idea with the short days of Winter.
We will start this off with a ride to Jim Thorpe of 100 miles at a 13-15 mph pace. This route is generally flat, but we will increase the amount of climbing as the season continues. There will be a food and water stop in downtown Jim Thorpe to refuel. We will stop as needed to regroup.
Don't be left out of one of the fastest growing types of events. Gravel Grinders are Addictive! See everyone on the Trail!
Deep snow will change the mileage of the ride.
