Self-defense, MMA, martial arts training

We'll start by going over different ranges of combat, discuss some fundamental parts of our curriculum (with and without weapons), address training methods (aliveness, progressive resistance...), go over our perspective and principles about combat (structure/fighting stance, generalship, some attention to both attack and defense, foul tactics...), do an introduction to use of impact and bladed tools (stick and knife), run some drills, and do some sparring.

All you'll need (if you have them, if you don't the first couple of times, it's ok...) is workout clothes (sweats or somesuch) and boxing or MMA gloves, a mouthpiece. Those that come a while are encouraged to have sticks, training knives, hockey or lacrosse gloves, head gear that can tolerate not just empty hand work, but stick work (fencing masks, some martial arts head gear with face cages, or FIST helmets, or somesuch).

Once we have a feel for who is showing up, skillsets, etc, we'll go deeper into the material and start working on "pre-fight material", "scoring" (getting hits, etc), improvised tools, tactics, ramp up intensity as people are comfortable (well, semi-comfortable, if you follow me), problem-solving, working from inferior positions, unequal armament and/or unequal initiative, and more.  See you then.  :)

For those that aren't yet aware, if it rains, we train anyway. If it does so that it's not doable, we move inside. As usual, Rob L will also be joining us.
